Gautam Gambhir was born on October 14, 1981, in New Delhi. He attended Modern School in New Delhi and then earned a degree in Business Administration.

Gautam is from a cricketing family. His grandfather, Lala Ramji, worked at the Firoz Shah Kotla Ground in Delhi, and his father, Deepak Gambhir, is in charge of the textile industry.

GGambhir made his international debut for India in an ODI against Bangladesh in 2003. His Test debut, however, had to wait until 2004, when he faced Australia in Mumbai.

In 2009, Gautam Gambhir achieved a rare feat by scoring double-centuries in consecutive Test matches against New Zealand. His scores were 206 in the first Test and 167 in the second.

IGautam Gambhir was named ICC Test Player of the Year in 2009, in recognition of his exceptional accomplishments in Test cricket.

IGambhir played a crucial role in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup final against Sri Lanka. He scored 97 runs and anchored the innings, setting the stage for India's victory. His partnership with MS Dhoni was instrumental.

IGambhir led the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to two IPL victories in 2012 and 2014, making him one of the most successful captains in IPL history.

IIn 2019, Gambhir was honored with the prestigious Padma Shri, one of the highest civilian awards in India, for his outstanding contributions to the sport of cricket.
